The Rotary Club of Weston organized a very successful Community Service “back to school “ project in August. Rotary volunteers were instrumental in obtaining a generous $500 donation of school supplies from the Pembroke Pines WalMart.

The Rotary Club of Weston matched that sum and used it to double the supplies. In addition Costco of Pembroke Pines again demonstrated its community spirit and successful collaboration with our club by donating 100 backpacks. The backpacks were each filled with supplies by Western High School students who earned community service hours.

The filled backpacks were distributed by volunteers of the Harvest Drive. Students receiving the backpacks were chosen by social service counselors at each school. The backpacks and supplies allowed 100 elementary school children begin school with their essential needs.
